EMMY Awards: 'Ok, We Give'

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences decided to back down and give in to mounting pressure following what was widely seen as a bad move on their part. The TV Academy previously announced they would pre-tape (and edit) select awards presentations for the September telecast. They had planned to tape the presentations earlier in the day and edit them giving show runners more creative control.

Opponents said the move would give shows nominated in those categories less prominent air time and editing the acceptance speeches would give show runners a chance to cut too much. In an effort to "mend relationships," the TV Academy said oops and reversed course.
