'GMA' Says Goodbye, 'Today' Goes To War

Are you sure this isn't sweeps??  ABC is spending the week saying goodbye to Diane Sawyer on Good Morning America.  Two weeks from tonight, ABC's World News is rebranded World News with Diane Sawyer.  This week, also expect an announcement from the network about the new lineup of the second-rated morning show (hint:  George Stephanopoulos).

Meanwhile, over on the number one network morning show, Matt Lauer and Al Roker have traveled to Afghanistan to anchor Today on Tuesday and Wednesday.  This will be the first time Today has broadcast from the country.  Is it a coincidence that I just got a news alert telling me Defense Secretary Robert Gates has landed in Afghanistan?

And at CBS, the same old song and dance on ... what's the name of their morning show?
