Earlier today, the nominees for the 67th Golden Globes ceremony were announced. As we typically do, we'll give you our picks here, but you can see the full list of nominees on the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's website (here).
Up In The Air and Precious are nominated for Best Picture - Drama. Sandra Bullock and Helen Mirren are nominated for Best Actress - Drama for their respective roles in The Blind Side and The Last Station. Morgan Freeman's portrayal of Nelson Mandela gets him a nomination for Best Actor - Drama.
In the Best Picture - Musical or Comedy award, we naturally pick Julie & Julia, with Meryl Streep's role as Julia Child should get her the Best Actress - Musical or Comedy trophy. Robert Downey Jr as Sherlock Holmes would be our pick for Best Actor - Musical or Comedy, but he likely won't walk with the award.
The Supporting Actress nod should go to Julianne Moore (A Single Man) and Actor to Matt Damon (Invictus). Fantastic Mr. Fox will take Best Animated Feature Film. We'll put our money on Clint Eastwood for Best Director (Invictus) and Jason Reitman and Sheldon Turner (Up In The Air) for Best Screenplay.
In the television categories, we'll go with Dexter for Best Drama, but we also like Big Love and Mad Men for the trophy. Glenn Close has a lock on Best Actress - Drama for her role in Damages, and Michael C. Hall for Dexter (Best Actor - Drama).
We like newcomer Glee for Best Series - Musical or Comedy, but Modern Family is a close second. Lea Michele (Glee) is our top pick for Best Actress in a comedy series, but we also like Edie Falco (Nurse Jackie). Matthew Morrison should take home the Best Actor in a comedy series award. How nice would it be for Glee to sweep Comedy?
In supporting roles, we like Jane Lynch (Glee) and John Lithgow (Dexter). It was hard for us not to pick Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother) for Best Supporting Actor.
Ricky Gervais will host the 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards January 17th on NBC.
