Writers Guild Nominations

Nominations are in for the Writers Guild awards and you won't be surprised.  In the television categories, Showtime's Dexter and AMC's Mad Men are competing for the Drama Series award.  Glee (FOX) and Modern Family (ABC) will battle it out for Comedy Series.  And the New Series award will be a tough call as Glee, Modern Family and Showtime's Nurse Jackie are all nominated.

Another tough one is the Episodic Drama, which is awarded for writing honors on a single episode, with Big Love's "Come, Ye Saints" and Mad Men's "The Grown Ups" and "Guy Walks into an Advertising Agency" each nominated.  Modern Family's "Pilot" is our top pick for Episodic Comedy.

Dustin Lance Black gets a nom for his work on MTV's Pedro (Best Long Form - Original).  And Rosie O'Donnell's efforts on Lifetime's America get her a bid for Long Form - Adaptation.

In a first, all five nominees for the Animation award go to a single program - The Simpsons.

For the News - Regularly Scheduled, Bulletin or Breaking Report award, CBS Evening News and ABC's World News are nominated.

As always, these are just our picks.  You can read about all the nominees for the Writers Guild Awards here.  The awards will be handed out in ceremonies in New York and Los Angeles on February 20th.
