Why I Hire Movers

Why should anyone hire Chicago Movers? After all, you can move on your own or get your friends to help and save some money, right? Well, you won’t save much, because there are a lot of drawbacks to moving on your own, especially in Chicago, and you can end up damaging your nicest belongings. Here are a few examples.

First off think of the typical architecture in Chicago. This is an old city which means it is very beautiful but it also means moving is a pain. Tall, steep, narrow, winding staircases abound. Elevators are small, and doors are even smaller. If you can carry an armoire or dresser out of a building in Chicago without scratching it you have a true talent. More likely you are going to put dings in that thing every step of the way.

Second, think of equipment. You probably know the basics of how to protect your things. You want to wrap breakables in plastic before boxing them and cover up furniture so it does not get scratched. But do you really have the right gear? I have seen people try to use blankets instead of furniture pads. Furniture pads exist for a reason and that is because they are thicker, stiffer and easy to strap in place. A blanket is going to shifty around and fall off during the move and may not even protect your woodwork anyway.

These jerry rigged approaches to moving do not end up saving money in the long run. They just give you a lot of beat up furnishings that look shabby and then need to be replaced. Plus, the emotional cost can be high. I recommend hiring some Chicago movers to make your life easier.
